Rhode Island Alzheimer’s Care:
Carriage House and Chestnut Cottage
The progression of memory loss and other symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia requires special care for those living in assisted senior living facilities. The Elms operates two memory care communities to care for those with dementia symptoms and to support their remaining cognitive abilities.
In fact, The Carriage House and Chestnut Cottage at The Elms have been recognized as leaders in providing safe, supportive care for residents dealing with the effects of memory loss and dementia.
A specialized team of trained nurses, certified nursing assistants, resident care providers and master trainers in the field of Alzheimer's care has created a unique environment for residents. Daily activities promote positive purpose, and the environment is designed to avoid confusion, stress and aggravation. The courtyard provides a safe, secure outdoor area for exercise and relaxation. The staff encourages families to participate in activities, group meetings and meals.
Because the residential population in each community is small, we maintain a staffing ratio that insures the correct development and execution of individual care plans – including dietary planning for each resident.
The Chestnut Cottage and the Carriage House are state-of-the-art memory care communities serving seniors in Rhode Island and Connecticut. There is no “buy-in” or long-term lease.
